Fire in Evergreen Village NE.

The Calgary Fire Department was called out this morning just after 11:00am. for a report of a fire in the Evergreen Village complex located at 405 64th Avenue NE. First arriving crews found black smoke coming from the second floor window of one of the residential units. Firefighters made entry to the unit and extinguished a fire in a bedroom on the second floor. A woman and three year old child had been in the unit at the time of the fire but exited as the fire began. However firefighters did locate and rescue 2 cats, a hamster, and rabbit. All were unharmed. Although the fire was confinded to the bedroom the family will not be able to occupy their home due to the smoke damage generated by the fire. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation at this time.
