FIRE FATALITY CAUSED BY SMALL HOUSE FIRE IN FOREST LAWN

One of the two occupants of the house fire that occurred at approximately 0330 this morning did not survive the ordeal. As previously stated, Calgary Fire Fighters removed the victim from a bedroom fire in the community of Forest Lawn early Sunday morning.  The occupant of the bedroom has been identified as a 43 year old male and was found in the smoke filled room. The man was quickly removed and turned over to EMS. In spite of the best efforts by both CFD and EMS personnel, the victim passed away at the Foothills Hospital. The second person was also transported and treated for minor smoke inhalation. This tragedy is yet another example of the importance of having working smoke detectors in your home.  The investigation into the exact cause of the fire is still in progress.
