Fire crews respond to Varsity house fire

Shortly before 4 this afternoon Calgary Fire Department crews responded to reports of smoke coming from a 2 story dwelling in the 3700 block of 37 street NW. The first arriving officer encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from a basement window and called for extra resources to assist. A aggressive interior attack rapidly brought the fire under control. There were no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. 37street NW will remain closed until crews clear the scene.
