Fire Crews Respond to Fire in the North West

At approximately four thirty this morning, Calgary Fire Crews responded to reports of a house fire in the 1300 block of 19 Avenue NW. On arrival, crews encountered 2 residents of the single story home waiting outside. The residents assured fire fighters that there were no other occupants or pets in the building and explained that a pot had been left unattended on a stove in the basement creating a great deal of smoke. Crews ventilated the building of smoke a checked for levels of Carbon Monoxide before allowing the residents back in the building. There were no injuries at this incident.
The Calgary Fire Department would like to remind you to stay in the cooking area when you are frying, broiling or grilling food. If you leave the cooking area even for a short period of time, turn off the stove.
