Fire Crews Respond to an Explosion in Copperfield

At approximately 2:25 this afternoon The Calgary Fire Department responded to a 911 call for an explosion on the 600 block of Copperpond Circle in the Southeast community of Copperfield. On arrival crews found damage to the front of the single family occupancy and light smoke with no fire present. The explosion was confined to the front drive garage and the cause of the explosion is under investigation.

Crews evacuated the house as a precaution and there were no injuries on scene. Calgary Police assisted with traffic control to the area and AHS was on standby. The Calgary Fire Department Technical Rescue Team assisted crews with ensuring that the structure was safe for re occupancy.
