At approximately 9:25 p.m. the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 4600 block of 73 Street N.W. for reports of a building fire.  A second alarm was requested for additional resources by responding crews due to the amount of fire that could be seen while they were enroute.  Upon arrival crews discovered a large amount of fire in the back yard with extension to the rear of a detached bungalow.  An elderly female resident had safely self evacuated the house.  Initially crews attacked the fire from a defensive position to bring the fire under control, and then conducted an interior search.  The fire was contained to the involved structure, which was extensively damaged.  No injuries were reported.  Crews are currently on scene monitoring for hot spots.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
