Fire Crews Rescue Worker from Downtown Building

At approximately 4:30 this afternoon, fire crews responded to a 911 call for an unconscious worker on a swing stage attached to the outside of a high rise building on the 200 block of 6th avenue SE. On arrival, crews were directed to the 5th floor where a male worker in medical distress was on the outside of the building. The Calgary Fire Department activated the Technical Rescue team to secure the person to a stretcher and lower them to a safer and more accessible floor using rope systems. Crews were able to remove the person and transfer care to AHS with assistance from building maintenance crews. The person in distress has been transported to hospital by AHS. There were minor traffic interruptions during the event and access is back to normal.
