Fire Crews Rescue Woman From Freezing Bow River

At approximately 3:05 p.m., the Calgary Fire Department responded to the Langevin Bridge at 4th Avenue and Riverfront Avenue S.E. for reports of a woman in the water. It is not known how she ended up in the river. A concerned cyclist on the bike path spotted her and immediately dialed 911. Upon arrival, firefighters quickly deployed a throw bag (floatation device with rope attached) to pull the barely conscious woman to shore. Fire crews facilitated a speedy rescue under challenging conditions. Once on shore, patient care was transferred to EMS.
