Fire Crews Battle Morning Basement Fire In Braeside

 

At approximately 8:05 this morning, the Calgary Fire Department received a 911 call reporting smoke in the basement of a home on Braeside Drive S.W. The lone occupant and his dog were alerted by their smoke alarm and made it out safely with no reports of injuries. On arrival, fire crews encountered a working fire in the basement. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, successfully preventing spread to the main floor of the home. Damage to the basement is extensive and the fire is currently under investigation.
