Driver Injured in Tractor Trailer Rollover

This afternoon at approximately 4:45 the Calgary Fire Department responded to Glenmore Trail and 11 ST, SE for reports of a tractor trailer rollover.  Upon arrival fire crews found a tractor trailer, on its side, lying across the centre barricade on Glenmore Trail, just south of the 11 ST overpass.  It appears that, while driving on westbound Glenmore Trail, the driver lost control of the truck and struck the center barricade.  The force of the impact caused the tractor to separate from the trailer and roll over.  The driver, a male (age unknown), self extricated and was treated and transported to the hospital by AHS.  Firefighters are currently on scene cleaning up diesel fuel that had leaked from the saddle tanks of the tractor. The tractor has since been up-righted and will be removed from the scene shortly.  The trailer, which rolled over as well, contained a load of boxed meat products that poses no hazard to the environment or fire crews. It will be, off loaded, up-righted, and removed from the scene as well.  No other vehicles were involved in the collision. No other injuries were reported. Traffic on Glenmore Trail is currently shut down, in both directions, from Blackfoot Trail to Deerfoot Trail.  At this time, it is unknown how long traffic will be impacted.  If possible, it is advisable to avoid the area.
