Calgary High School Hit by Lightning

At approximately 1:30 pm, James Fowler High School was struck by lightning, a small fire was started on the roof of the structure. Calgary Fire crews responded and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews are currently investigating and working with the Calgary Board of Education to make sure the lightning strike has not caused any other damage to the electrical system or any other parts of the school.

The Calgary Fire Department is advising all citizens to keep an eye out for storm warnings and worsening conditions as we are starting the thunderstorm season. These storms can create lightening, hail and strong winds. The Calgary Fire Department advises to protect your family and pets by staying inside during severe weather.
