Calgary Firefighters Respond to Basement Fire in Coventry Hills

At approximately 5:00 this evening The Calgary Fire Department responded to the 12000 block of Coventry Hills Way N.E. for reports of a house fire.  Upon arrival Fire crews were met by a male tenant who stated that there was a fire in the basement and that he, and his family of six, had all evacuated the home safely.  Firefighters entered the house and quickly extinguished a small fire in the basement. The home was then ventilated utilizing large electric fans. No injuries were reported and damage to the home is minimal.  At this time, an estimate of damage is unavailable. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
