Calgary Firefighters Honoured with Emergency Services Medals

Twenty-nine Calgary firefighters have been awarded Alberta Emergency Services Medals for their dedication and commitment to emergency services.

The medals, awarded by the Office of the Fire Commissioner, pay tribute to outstanding full-time, part-time, and volunteer members who have committed 12 or more years to emergency service in Alberta.

“The medal received today is not just a symbol of a 12 year career - it signifies a steadfast commitment to our Department’s mission and the community you serve,” said Calgary Fire Chief Bruce Burrell. “I hope you will wear your medals with pride knowing that your efforts have and will continue to provide our citizens with an invaluable sense of safety and security.”

Medal recipients must have all the training and certifications required by their municipalities, ministries and administrative authorities. Today’s recipients have worked in a sector of the Alberta emergency management system since the year 2000.

The Calgary Fire Department is very proud of the Calgary firefighters who received an Alberta Emergency Services medal today for their contribution to Calgary Fire Department’s mission to serve the community through excellence in fire prevention, education, protection and safety.
