At 6 this morning, Calgary Fire crews responded to reports of a multiple vehicle accident on Deerfoot Trail and 24 Street SE. On their arrival, crews encountered a 7 vehicle pileup involving 16 people. Fire crews called in a Calgary Transit bus to accommodate the people in the cold. Fire Department crews extricated one person from one of the vehicles involved patient care was handed over to EMS. In all, 10 people were transported to hospital. 2 southbound lanes of traffic are open at this time.
