Calgary fire crews fight early morning fire in Martindale

At approximately 6:15 on Monday morning June 04, Calgary fire crews were called to the 100 block of Martindale Drive N.E. for reports of a house fire. The fire quickly spread and as firefighters arrived on scene, they encountered substantial flames coming from both houses. The incident commander quickly upgraded the response to a second alarm for additional resources.

Seven adults and nine children safely evacuated the three affected homes prior to fire crews’ arrival on scene. One of the families was alerted to the fire by a working smoke alarm. Three homes sustained significant damage as a result of this fire.

The Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) was called to the scene to assist the displaced families.

Calgary fire crews will be on scene throughout the day. A Calgary Fire Department fire investigator is on site to determine the exact origin and cause of this fire. If anybody has any photos or video, especially prior to CFD arrival on scene, please email them to Carol Henke of the Calgary Fire Department at piofire@calgary.ca
