Calgary Fire Department update on compromised building facade at 608 7 Avenue SW

At 11:30 this morning, May 20, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a 911 call for bricks falling from the east wall of a building at 608 7th Street S.W. On arrival, fire crews evacuated the building, portions of two neighbouring buildings, and set up a safety perimeter. Currently, two separate barricades are being erected to diminish the potential damage should any more bricks coming loose from the building facade. This is an ongoing operation and is expected to be completed by early morning of May 21. Calgary Fire crews continue to be on scene throughout the night to monitor the building and maintain the safety perimeter.
