Calgary Fire Department response to early morning garage fire

Early this morning, the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) received reports of a house fire in the Community of Arbour Lake NW. Upon arrival, the crews were met by the owners of the house who had evacuated their home prior to the arrival of the Fire Department. It was obvious that the fire was in the attached front garage by the volume of pressurized smoke that was coming from around the garage doors. The CFD secured a water supply then began an aggressive interior attack on the fire. The fire was quickly brought under control and although there was some vertical extension, the fire did not enter the primary residence nor did it cause any damage to the adjacent houses. There were no injuries and at the present time crews are still on scene over hauling the garage to ensure that there are no hot spots. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
