Calgary Fire Department responds to warehouse fire in S.E.

At approximately 1:45 this afternoon, Calgary fire crews were called to a large warehouse in the 3300 block of 52nd Street S.E. for a fire involving a propane powered floor sweeper. The heat from the fully involved floor sweeper caused the building's fire sprinkler system to activate. All 50 employees had evacuated the building prior to Calgary Fire Department arrival due to the activation of the fire alarm system. Firefighters extinguished the fire and are ventilating the building to remove heat and smoke. The large size of the building and the amount of smoke generated from the fire are extending the time it will take to ensure the building is safe to reoccupy. No injures were reported as a result of this fire and Calgary Fire Investigators are on scene to determine cause.
