Calgary Fire Department Responds to Vehicle Crash into Building in South East

At approximately 6:15 this evening, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a single vehicle crash into a commercial strip mall in the 7000 block of Barlow Trail SE.  Upon arrival fire rescue crews were faced with a vehicle that had crashed through the exterior wall of an automotive parts supply warehouse. The driver and lone occupant was found unconscious in the vehicle.  Firefighters stabilized the driver and transferred patient care to Alberta Health Services.  It is believed the driver of the vehicle had suffered a medical condition causing the truck to cross several lanes of oncoming traffic before crashing through the exterior wall. Members of the fire department heavy rescue team removed the vehicle from the structure and stabilized the building.  One other person was inside the warehouse at the time of the incident, but was unharmed by the crash.  The accident remains under investigation by the Calgary Police Service.
