Calgary Fire Department Responds to Two Alarm Residential Fire in Woodbine SW

Calgary Fire Crews Battle Two Alarm fire in Woodbine

At approximately 10 pm on Tuesday evening, The Calgary Fire Department responded to multiple reports of a house fire at 100 block of Woodbrook Way SW. When crews arrived they found 3 homes fully involved in fire. Hose lines were set in place to protect the neighboring homes. An aerial water tower was quickly set in place to apply water to the burning structures. While the involved homes were not able to be searched immediately, the adjacent homes were evacuated and all occupants were quickly accounted for. One occupant of one of the damaged homes was treated by Alberta Health Services on scene. One dog was located in the back yard of one of the homes and reunited with her owner. Displaced occupants were able to find alternative housing and as such did not require activation of Calgary Emergency Management Agency. Calgary Police Services controlled traffic until City Roads was able to provide barricades. Enmax responded and found one transformer serving several houses had been damaged as a result of the fire. Atco Gas Company was also on scene dealing with a ruptured supply line which was caused by intense heat and collapse of one of the walls. Crews are still on scene dealing with hot spots and fire watch will continue through the night. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
