At approximately 6:10 this morning, Calgary fire crews were called to a 16 unit townhouse complex on 72 Avenue. NW in Huntington Hills for a residential fire. On arrival, fire crews saw significant flames coming from the windows of a unit and commenced an aggressive exterior attack to prevent the spread of fire to adjoining suites. Two residents were home at the time of the fire and self evacuated. One individual was transported by AHS. Approximately 50 people were temporarily evacuated from the surrounding residences as a precaution and a Calgary Transit bus was supplied as shelter. No other injuries were reported. Calgary Fire Department Fire Investigators are on scene to determine origin and cause of the fire. It is unclear whether a smoke alarm alerted the occupants to the fire.
