Calgary Fire Department responds to south east for balcony fire

Shortly after 8:00 this morning, fire crews were called to the 200 block of Copper Pond Common S.E. for reports of a fire on the balcony of a four story condominium building. Upon arrival, firefighters learned that construction crews working near the building had used their ‘zoom boom’ elevated lift to suppress the fire with an extinguisher after calling 911. Firefighters entered the building, commenced the evacuation of approximately 30 people and located the source unit to extinguish the fire. There was no extension of fire into the building however the balcony and some items did sustain heat damage. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire. Th origin and cause of this fire are currently under investigation.
