Calgary Fire Department responds to multiple house fire in the NE.

At approximately 2:20 this afternoon, Calgary 911 received several calls with reports of a house fire in the 200 block of Skyview Springs CR NE.

The Calgary Fire Department(CFD) was dispatched to the address and found a 2 storey home fully involved with smoke and fire. Crews quickly started a fire attack while checking for occupants of both the source home and exposed homes on either side. Due to the wind velocity, aerial streams and large volume hose lines were required to protect the exposed homes and stop the spread of fire.  10 residents safely self evacuated prior to CFD arrival from the 3 impacted homes, unfortunately 2 cats did perish in the source home.

At the time of this report, active salvage and overhaul work is being done on both the source home and both exposed homes to ensure the fire is extinguished. The source home suffered extensive damage and will be uninhabitable, the residents of the exposed homes will also be displaced until repairs can be completed.

Alberta Health Services(AHS) are on scene and assessed one resident from the source home who had a minor abrasion, but no transport was required. No other injuries to residents or firefighters have been reported. Calgary Police Services(CPS) were also dispatched scene to assist with safety and the control of traffic in the area.

Enmax and ATCO were also on scene to manage the control and flow of utilities.

The Calgary Fire Department fire investigator will be on scene working to determine the cause and origin of this fire. The Calgary Fire Department would like to remind citizens that have photos, video or information regarding this fire, especially prior to CFD arrival on scene, please email piofire@calgary.ca
