Calgary Fire Department Responds to Mobile Home Fire in NE

At approximately 6:40 this evening, the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire in the 900 block of 16 Ave NE. Crews arrived on scene to find a mobile home with smoke pushing through every window casing of the single family dwelling. One male occupant, approximately 60 years old, who had self evacuated, was immediately treated by fire crews and patient care was quickly transferred to Alberta Health Services. Crews then utilized an aggressive interior attack to knock down most of the fire.  Fire attack crews then retreated to the exterior of the park model home, using the window openings to extinguish the remaining flames. Although there was extensive damage to the interior and exterior of the unit, no other mobile homes were damaged. ENMAX and Atco gas were required on scene to shut off utilities to the building, while the Calgary Police assisted with local traffic control. Fire crews remain on scene, checking for fire extension and hot spots. The fire investigator is also on scene, however the cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.
