Calgary Fire Department responds to house fire on Millbank Road SW

 

 

 

At approximately 10:30 this morning, Calgary fire crews were called to Millbank Road SW for reports of a house fire. On arrival, firefighters encountered the resident outside who had safely evacuated and called 911. Fire crews found heavy smoke in the home due to fire in the fireplace which had extended into the attic. Firefighters accessed the attic by pulling down parts of the ceiling as well as cutting open the roof from the exterior using an elevated platform.The fire was quickly brought under control and firefighters continue to put out hotspots and perform overhaul. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire and Calgary Fire Department Fire Investigators are on scene to determine the exact cause and origin.
