Calgary Fire Department Responds to House Fire on Manora Dr NE

Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded to reports of a house fire at approximately 7:30 pm this evening in the 600 block of Manora Dr NE.

Upon arrival, reports stated smoke and flames were showing from the upper level of the single story residential home. Crews quickly gained access to the interior, but were forced to exit and continue firefighting efforts from the exterior due to a change in conditions. Crews re-entered the structure when safe to do so and extinguished the fire from the interior. The home itself was significantly damaged, along with a detached garage which was exposed to the heat, smoke, and flames.

Three residents from the home self-evacuated prior to CFD’s arrival and a thorough search of the structure confirmed there were no other occupants. Two cats were rescued by CFD and returned to their owners.

Atco and Enmax attended the incident to mitigate any hazards related to gas and power. CPS maintained security of the incident.

Crews remain on scene at this time to ensure the fire is extinguished and a fire investigator is currently conducting an investigation into the cause.
