Calgary Fire Department responds to house fire in West Springs

Shortly after 7:00 this evening the Calgary Fire Department was sent to West Cedar Place SW to investigate a reported building fire. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 2 story single family home with thick, black smoke venting from the second floor soffits.  Firefighters immediately entered the structure to search for possible victims and locate the fire. A well developed fire was located on the second floor and quickly knocked down by firefighters.  Crews also confirmed that the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Unfortunately, the home suffered significant fire and smoke damage and will be uninhabitable until major repairs have been completed.  There were no reported injuries. The fire is currently under investigation.  At this time, traffic in the area is unaffected.
