Calgary Fire Department Responds to House Fire in The S.W.

 Shortly after 10:30 p.m. this evening the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 3700 block of Richardson Way S.W. for reports of a building fire. Upon arrival crews reported heavy black smoke coming from the front door of a unit in a multifamily housing complex. An aggressive interior attack and simultaneous search was initiated and the fire was quickly brought under control. All occupants were accounted for and crews rescued a cat from the affected unit. No injuries were reported. The involved unit received moderate fire damage and an adjacent unit received minor smoke damage. Occupants from both units were not allowed to return and alternate accommodations have been arranged. Cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
