Calgary Fire Department Responds to House Fire in Ogden

At approximately 1:20 this morning the Calgary Fire Department responded to a 911 call in the 7400 block of Ogden Road in the city’s southeast. On arrival, crews found a single story residential dwelling with smoke and flames showing. Fire crews quickly established a water supply and were able to attack the fire from the outside to bring the situation under control. Once under control, firefighters gained access and extinguished the fire from inside the dwelling while conducting a search for occupants. The search found no occupants in what appears to be an abandoned house. The fire was discovered by a passerby who called 911.

Damage is limited to the unoccupied structure from fire confined to the ground floor. There are no injuries on scene, and crews will remain at this location for the next several hours to ensure there are no hidden fires. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Calgary Fire Department would like to remind all citizens that cooking fires are the most common cause of indoor fires, and that working smoke alarms alert people to fires in early stages and can save lives.
