Calgary Fire Department Responds to House Fire in North West

Calgary Fire Department crews respond to a two alarm fire in Hawkwood.

At approximately 10:00 am this morning the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to Hawkstone Place NW following the reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival, crews were faced with a large volume of fire and smoke coming from the roof and eves of the home. A second alarm response was requested due to the proximity to the homes on both sides. The fire was brought under control quickly with an exterior and interior fire attack. The sole occupant of the home was alerted to the fire by neighbors and evacuated the house prior to CFD arrival. Both houses on each side were also evacuated as a precaution initially, but have now been reoccupied.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of the fire, two cats in the home were reunited with the home owner. Fire investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
