Calgary Fire Department Responds to House Fire in Glendale

Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded to reports of a structure fire just after 4:30 am this morning in the 2200 block of 37 St SW.

Upon arrival, reports stated heavy smoke was showing from the front of a single family bungalow. Crews quickly gained access to the interior, located the seat of the fire, and knocked down any visible flames.

Five people self-evacuated from the home prior to CFD’s arrival. Two residents will be displaced. A thorough search of the structure confirmed there were no other occupants. Two dogs and one bearded dragon were located and returned safely to their owners.

Both residents were assessed for minor smoke inhalation and released by AHS on scene.

Atco and Enmax attended the incident to mitigate any hazards related to gas and power. CPS maintained security of the incident and controlled traffic flow.

Crews remain on scene at this time to ensure the fire is extinguished and a fire investigator is currently conducting an investigation into the cause.
