CALGARY FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO HOUSE FIRE IN FOREST LAWN

At approximately 03:30 this morning the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to 14 Ave and 38 St SE, to investigate a possible house fire. Upon arrival, crews discovered a small amount of smoke coming from a basement window of a single family bungalow. The Fire Fighters entered the house and began searching for the source of the smoke as well as potential victims. It was quickly discovered that the smoke was coming from a fire in a basement bedroom. Upon entering the bedroom a male victim was located and rescued, he was turned over to EMS who transported him to the hospital.  The fire was quickly extinguished and aside from the bedroom, the house sustained only minor damage.  At this time the exact status of the victim is unknown and fire crews remain on scene overhauling the bedroom to ensure there are no hot spots. Once the area is deemed safe the investigation into the exact cause of the fire will commence.
