At approximately 5 this morning, the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire in the 2500 block of 35 street SE. Initial arriving crews reported a fully involved house fire impinging on 2 adjacent homes. Exposure hose lines were quickly deployed to stop the spread of the fire and crews mounted an aggressive interior attack, rapidly bringing the fire under control. Due to the efforts of a passing cab driver who stopped and alerted the occupants, a family of four with two small children and two dogs living upstairs and a family of three living downstairs managed to safely evacuate the building.  The occupants of the two adjacent structures were evacuated as a precaution and have since been allowed to return to their homes.  The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.
