Calgary Fire Department Responds to Fire in The North West

 

Shortly before 6;00pm this evening,the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 800block of 9a street N.W for reports of a building fire. First arriving crews reported heavy black smoke coming from the rear of the structure, quickly secured a water source and launched a interior fire attack and simutaneous search for occupants. Three residents had safely egressed the building and called 911. A fourth resident was unaccounted for and this information was reported to both 911 and arriving fire personel. The fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control and one person was removed from  the structure. Patient care was transfered to on scene Alberta Health Services staff who transported  the person to an area hospital. No other injuries were reported and fire investigators remain on scene conducting a thorough investigation. 9a street was temporarily closed during the fire and has since been reopened to vehicle traffic.
