Calgary Fire Department Responds to Fire in Seniors Residence

At approximately 5:30 this morning, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a fire in a 5 story seniors residence in the 1500 block of Northmount Drive NW.  The call originally came in as alarm bells and was upgraded by an occupant to smoke in the building while apparatus were still responding to the scene.   After arrival, investigating fire crews found smoke on the 4th floor and initiated an aggressive interior attack. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and contained the flames to the kitchen in the suite of origin.  Firefighters used high pressure fans to pressurize the building to assist with the removal of smoke and heat.  There were no reports of injury and the fire is still under investigation.
