Calgary Fire Department Responds to early morning House Fire

Shortly before 8:00 A.M.. this morning the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 3800 block of 3 avenue S.W. for reports of a building fire. First arriving crews reported smoke coming from the roof area of a single story single family dwelling.  The two residents plus their dog were able to safely egress the home prior to arrival of fire crews and no injuries were reported. The fire was confined to the roof area of the building and the investigation into cause is in the initial phase. Local traffic is not being impacted by this event. Luckily the residents who were awake at the time were alerted to the fire by sounds coming from the roof Harare as there  were no working smoke alarms in the home.  Calgarians are reminded that smoke alarms save lives cutting the risk of dying in a home fire in half, and smoke alarms should be installed and maintained in every home.
