Calgary Fire Department responds to early morning collision on Deerfoot Trail

Shortly before 7:00 this morning the Calgary Fire Department responded to Deerfoot Trail and Glenmore Trail SE for reports of a vehicle fire.  Arriving crews found a late model Jeep in the southbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail fully engulfed in flames.  The lone occupant of the vehicle, a man in his twenties, managed to escape the vehicle on his own prior to CFDs arrival. Apparently, the driver lost control of the vehicle rolling it onto its side before it burst into flames.  Another vehicle was involved in the collision but only sustained minor damage.  EMS treated one patient with minor injuries.  CFD extinguished the fire and cleaned up debris. CPS is currently on scene investigating.  Traffic on Deerfoot Trail is unaffected at this time.
