Calgary Fire Department responds to collision between car and train

At approximately 12:10 this afternoon, Calgary fire crews responded to the railway crossing at 41st Avenue and 8th Street N.E. for a collision between a vehicle and a train. The lone occupant and driver of the vehicle was able to self extricate after the collision and was assessed by EMS at the scene. Most of the damage was sustained by the vehicle. Firefighters assessed for scene for hazards and Calgary Police Service officers and railway representatives are investigating the cause of the collision.
