Calgary Fire Department Responds to Basement Fire in Coral Springs

At approximately 3:05 this afternoon, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Coral Springs Close NE. When fire crews arrived at the incident address smoke was pushing out from the eaves of the roof. The first arriving fire crews initiated an aggressive interior attack through the garage and quickly determined the fire was in the basement. Firefighters then extinguished the flames and contained the fire to the lower level of the home. Three occupants along with two family pets had self-evacuated prior to Calgary Fire Department arrival at the scene. The family was alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms. Enmax and ATCO were called to the address to assist by shutting down power and natural gas to the structure. Crews remain on scene conducting salvage and overhaul operations. There were no reports of injuries at the incident. The fire investigator is also at the address but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
