Calgary Fire Department Responds to a House fire in Shawnee

At approximately 4 AM this morning the Calgary Fire Department responded to a 911 call for a house fire on Shawnee Crescent SW. On arrival fire crews were met with a large volume of smoke and flames issuing from the front attached garage of a two story residence. Fire crews initiated a rapid fire attack and were able to contain the fire to the home of origin. Six occupants of the home were able to self evacuate prior to the Calgary Fire Department arrival.

Calgary Fire Department crews, including a Fire Investigator, remain on scene to ensure there is no fire extension and to determine the cause and origin of the fire. CPS and AHS are also on scene to provide assistance.

The Calgary Fire Department reminds all citizens of the importance of working smoke and CO alarms.
