Calgary Fire Department Responds to a Garage Fire in Oakridge

Just before 830 PM the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to reports of a structure fire in the 9000 block of Oakland Way SW. On arrival fire crews discovered a detached garage fully involved in flames. An occupant was found outside the structure suffering from fire related injuries. The victim was treated by Firefighters on scene before transferring care to AHS crews. The patient was subsequently transported to hospital by AHS in critical condition. Crews simultaneously attacked the fire and worked at protecting the exposed home while ensuring no other residents were in the garage. 

The garage was completely damaged by the fire, with minor damage to the exposed side of the home. One Firefighter suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital by AHS crews as a precaution. Calgary Police Services (CPS) were also on scene to assist with public safety and traffic control.

The Calgary Fire Department Fire Investigator is on scene working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
