Calgary Fire Department responds to a car versus house in Martindale

At approximately 11:30 this morning the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to reports of a car hitting a house. Upon arrival, the crews found a small SUV which was traveling south bound on Martindale DR NE had left the road and had indeed struck a home. The vehicle had left the road and was now fully entrenched in the walkout basement. The CFD’s first concern was for the occupants of the SUV as well as the house. The driver, who was out of the vehicle upon arrival, was turned over to AHS and was transported to the Hospital. The remainder of the passengers were not hurt and no one was home at the time of the accident. Once this was completed the CFD’s Heavy Rescue team moved in and utilizing wooden shoring made the basement safe to work in.  The team then constructed a ramp and the SUV was eventually towed out of the basement. Calgary Police Services remain on scene investigating the cause of the accident.
