Calgary Fire department Responds to 2 Alarm Industrial Structure Fire

Just before 1pm this afternoon Calgary 9-1-1 received a report of a structure fire at an auto salvage yard in the 7000 block of 36 St. NE.

Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews arrived to see heavy smoke and flames coming from a structure. Due to limited water supply in the area and the type of business involved, a second alarm was called to ensure the correct number of resources were on scene. Fire crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire, initially using elevated master streams before entering the building to complete a search and to ensure the fire was extinguished.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) were on standby, but no injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters. Calgary Police Services were also on scene to assist with traffic control in the area.

Enmax and ATCO are on scene to control the flow of utilities. A Calgary Fire Department Investigator is also on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

The Calgary Fire Department would like to ask citizens that have photos, video or information regarding this fire, especially prior to CFD arrival on scene, please email piofire@calgary.ca.
