Calgary Fire Department responds to 2 alarm house fire in NE.

At approximately 10:30 am this morning, Calgary 9-1-1 received several reports of a structure fire in the 100 block of Falshire Close NE.

The Calgary Fire Department(CFD) was dispatched, with first arriving crews calling a second alarm immediately due to the amount of smoke and fire visible. Fire crews began an aggressive fire attack while protecting exposed homes and ensuring all residents were out of the home. Crews conducted thorough searches of the neighboring homes as firefighting efforts continued. The fire was quickly brought under control but not without extensive damage to the source home a detached garage and a utility trailer and pick up truck in the rear of the home. There was slight damage to some of the neighboring homes with none of them being displaced overnight.

One male resident safely evacuated prior to CFD arrival, there were 5 cats also residing in the home with only one accounted for at the time of this report. Alberta Health Services(AHS) were on scene but no injuries to residents or firefighters were reported. Calgary Police Services (CPS) were also on scene to assist with traffic control and scene safety. ATCO and ENMAX assisted with the control and flow of utilities.

Calgary Fire Department Investigators are on scene working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
