Calgary Fire Department responds to 2 alarm commercial structure fire.

Just after 2:00 am the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to a 911 call out with reports of smoke and fire in a large retail structure. First arriving crews encountered smoke and fire at the rear of the structure and called a second alarm due to the size of the building and potential fire load.

On investigation fire crews quickly determined the fire was located on the exterior of the building involving a tractor trailer full of merchandise. Crews worked hard to extinguish the flames and protect the exterior of the building. Crews entered the building to ensure there were no people inside and to clear the smoke and to limit the smoke damage. At the time of this report CFD is on scene working on overhaul of the affected areas and insuring air quality inside the building.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) were on scene to assist with any injuries, no injuries have been reported at this time.

Calgary Police Services (CPS)  were also on scene to assist with traffic control and scene safety, CPS Arson Investigators are on scene to investigate. CFD Investigator is on scene working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
