Calgary Fire Department fights two alarm fire in Kincora

At approximately 2:00 am, the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 300 block of Kincora Drive NW following reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival, crews found two houses fully engulfed in flames. Due to amount of fire present, fire crews were unable to search the interior of those two houses for any occupants or pets. Crews immediately began setting up hose lines and master streams to protect the neighbouring homes. Strong winds along with the close proximity of the houses enabled the fire to extend to homes directly south of where the fire originated.

Enmax and ATCO Gas were called to the scene to shut off utilities to damaged homes.

A total of four houses were significantly damaged and ten other residences were evacuated as a precaution with the assistance of Calgary Police Officers. Calgary Transit buses were used to shelter displaced residents. There are no reports at this time of injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The fire is now deemed under control and fire crews remain on scene to extinguish hot spots.

Calgary Fire Department fire investigators are currently on scene conducting the investigation into the origin and cause of this large and devastating fire.
