The first of two building fire in South East Calgary came in at approximately 01:30 this morning. Crews were dispatched to 61 Ave and 31 St SE for reports of a warehouse fire. Upon arrival crews found large volumes of pressurized smoke coming from the building and the fire suppression system activated.  The fire attack team entered the building and attacked the fire which was being kept in check by the activated sprinkler heads. Once located the fire was quickly extinguished. Fire crews were returning from this call when some of the apparatus were re-dispatched to a second fire on Frobisher Blvd SE. At about 0300 reports of a fully involved garage fire were being received by 911 dispatchers. The first arriving crews reported finding a fully involved rear detached garage with live downed power lines. In this case as a precaution, residences were evacuated from the adjacent homes. At the same time; Fire fighters were adopting a defensive posture to deal with the fire. By utilizing a combination of foam and water the fire was quickly brought under control. Although there was extensive damage to the garage there was no damage to the adjacent homes. In both cases there were no injuries and the investigations into the cases will commence once the areas are deemed safe. There is no connection between the two events.
