Calgary Fire Department High Angle Team responds to high rise incident

This morning just before 9:00, Calgary Fire crews were called to a high rise building at the 300 block of 7th avenue S.W.. for reports of loose flashing hanging from the 41st floor. Upon arrival, fire crews found one piece of flashing which had already come off and landed on a lower level as well as three more loose pieces. The high angle team secured one piece in place and removed two others which could not be secured. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic on 7th avenue at that address was closed in both directions and rerouted for approximately an hour for public safety. The high angle team did not need to go over the side of the building to ensure the retrieval and securement of the loose building pieces. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident and The City of Calgary's Safety Response Unit from Development and Building Approvals was called to the incident to investigate.
