Calgary Fire Department fights two alarm furniture store fire in south east

At 3:50 this afternoon, 911 received reports of a fire at the rear of a furniture and housewares store on 33 Heritage Meadows Way SE where patio furniture was being stored in an enclosed outdoor area. The fire captain called for a second alarm due to the volume of smoke and fire visible on their arrival. Firefighters successfully knocked down the fire and limited fire damage to a neighbouring business. Employees and shoppers were evacuated from several businesses as a precaution. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire. Fire crews remain on scene to check for any fire extension along the roof. A Calgary Fire Department Fire Investigator is on scene to determine origin and cause.
