Calgary Fire Department fights structure fire in Arbour Lake

Shortly before 1:00 am the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) received calls from 911 with reports of a vehicle on fire in an attached garage. Fire crews responded to the 200 block of Arbour Stone RI NW and encountered large volumes of smoke and fire coming from the attached garage of a 2 story home. An aggressive exterior attack on the fire was started in conjunction with a primary search of the home.

3 adult residents safely self evacuated prior to CFD arrival but reported a pet snake could be located on the main floor. Fire crews entered the structure and removed the pet and returned it to its owners. Alberta Health Services (AHS) are on scene to assist but no injuries have been reported at this time.

At the time of this report the fire is under control, with two vehicles destroyed in the garage and extensive damage to the garage but no extension of fire into the main home. Crews are continuing with overhaul and ventilation, the CFD Investigator is en route to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

Calgary Police Services are on scene to assist with the scene safety and local residents. ATCO and ENMAX are also on scene to control the flow of utilities to the structure and area.
